We all know someone who has served in the United States Armed Forces. Most of them returned home to us, many were injured, and some made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Memorial Day is a Federal Holiday for remembering people who died in service of our country. Observed every year on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is celebrated in a variety of ways.
When I teach Financial Planning to local high school students, I usually discuss “disappearing dollars”. Just uttering this phrase causes several students to smirk and giggle. But, the laughter is soon replaced by silence as they realize they could not account for all of the money they spent in the past 7 days.
